Location / area biodiversity

We are based in Sandford TASMANIA on the South Arm Peninsula, our soils are dispersible clay and sand, when we started to farm our organic mass was under 0.5%.

Our topsoil was between 0.2 - 2.0 cm.

High acidity levels were complicating our dream of vegetable farming.

The challenge with an average rainfall of 120mm, which is falling mostly within 2-4 days.

On our farm we managed to increase our topsoil level by 5 cm within the first year, applying shallow ripping, spreading manures and intensive slashing/mowing. In addition to that we used inoculated biochar that we produced on the property and also used beneficial microorganisms.
